The Frank Hornby Charitable Trust

The charity was set up in honour of Frank Hornby with the goal of providing a space for education and general good works within the community. The trust operates out of our Heritage Centre at the Meadows Leisure Centre in Maghull. Maghull was home to Frank for most of his adult life. The charity continues his sense of support for the local community and his belief in instructive education.

One of our trustees is available to give informative talks to schools, community groups, retirement homes etc. using Meccano Factory items for interactive education and general enjoyment. We also have an Education/Memory Box available for groups/organisations to borrow - see our ‘Home’ page for details.

The trust is grateful for the help and support of the following organisations - Maghull Town Council, Maghull Library, Meadows Leisure Centre, Sefton Borough Council, National Museums Liverpool, Kirkby Gallery & Prescot Museum (Knowsley Council), Hornby Railway Collectors Association, The North West Meccano Guild, Tate Gallery Liverpool and the PH Holt Foundation.

The National Museums of Liverpool Curator Sharon Brown has visited our Heritage Centre. Here she describes her displays at The Museum of Liverpool.
